ST. GEORGE – On March 27, at approximately 3 a.m., the St. George Police Department responded to Kmart located at 745 South Bluff St. on a business alarm. Officers found the business had been burglarized, causing property damage and resulting in an undetermined amount of stolen jewelry.
Responding officers arrived within minutes of the alarm being reported. They found one of windows near the main doors had been completely shattered suggesting this was the method of entry. Officers searched the business and encountered no one inside. Detectives with the St. George Police Department Investigations Division responded to the scene to investigate the incident.
The jewelry counter was the apparent target and it had been ransacked. Jewelry is missing and the amount of loss will be determined upon completion of the official inventory. Video surveillance shows several subjects enter the business all wearing hooded sweatshirts and gloves. Unfortunately, video is not available for release at this time; however, if that changes, it may be provided.
We would encourage anyone with information regarding this case to contact the St. George Police Department at 435-627-4300. Detectives are following up on information and this is an ongoing investigation.
