IVINS –The Kayenta Developer and Homeowner Associations are offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of any persons responsible for setting fires in the Ivins area over the summer.

Ivins Fire Chief Kevin Gilbea said that a number of the fires that sprouted up around the Fourth of July were human-caused and intentional. However, parties responsible for those fires are still at large.

The Kayenta Homeowners Associations want those parties found and convicted, Gilbea said.

In the Anasazi Wildfire (see previous story), also human-caused, Gilbea said that the Kayenta area “came very, very close to losing structures.”

Anyone with information on the fires is encouraged to contact the Washington County Office at 435-673-5730.

firefighting personnel set those in the late night cuz they get grips of money to go out and fight them!! Our fire seasons have been very weak the past few summers so go figure. I live on the westside and have watched cars in the Utah Hill mtns. at like 3-4 in the am. then sure enough suspiciously, fires start.
