ST. GEORGE – A St. George man was arrested last week on five counts of sex with a minor.
Simon Alvarez, 42, was arrested after the mother of his child called police over a custody dispute. Captain James Van Fleet said the mom, who is currently 19-years-old, told officers that Alvarez took their child and would not return the child to her.
During the investigation, officers learned that the mom had become pregnant at the age of 17. Officers determined that a sexual relationship had allegedly occurred between the victim and Alvarez when she was under age, Van Fleet said.
Alvarez was booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility where he is also being investigated by ICE. Van Fleet said the child was released to the mother.

STOP JUDGING WHEN YOU DONT KNOW THE FACTS!!! This man in no way is a sexual predator or even a pervert! All he is is a father that loves his children. Just think of it this way, why after over a year would this woman charge him with these crimes? Simon filed for custody of his child and only after she was served papers by the court did she accuse him of these things. A woman that at 1 time loved this man enough to live with him and have his child!! A woman that has had another child taken away from her from a DIFFERENT MAN because it was determined by the court that she was an unfit mother!! Only 5 days after being served by the court, Simon was arrested because of lies told by this woman and her family!! sHAME ON YOU!! These ppl should be ashamed!! KARMA always wins and theres is coming!! There is sooo much evidence against this woman its sad and that should have been takin into account before this man was arrested!!!
I hope they deport his a**. no matter what the situation was he shouldn’t have slept with a 17 year old. we have laws in this country.

Are you really trying to tell me that a 17-yr-old is too naive to realize that she probably shouldn’t have sex with a 40-yr-old? He’ll spend the rest of his life as a registered sex offender and she will get off scot-free. Do you really believe that’s fair?

These ppl I’m sorry to say in my opinion are idiots and I’m sure Mr Blanco being Hispanic has had a couple 17 Yr olds himself just never been caught right 😉 and sure enough if in there own country its called culture not breaking the law! In there countries Hispanics say girls are woman at age 15 and are marriage material! I was married at 16 and my husband wasn’t a scum bag or a pervert and neither am I!

A 17 year old vs a 40 year old, HE was an adult and had more life experience and should KNOW BETTER. A 17 year old isn’t very naive, but psychological their adult rationalization is not fully formed so they do immature things. If you can deny that, then you must have amnesia from yourself at 17. My question is where were her parents when she was 17? Speaking as a mom, his behind would’ve been in jail back then for that. I don’t care about age maturity opinions of a 17 year old or not, that’s creepy that he’s even snooping around a 17 year old and says a lot about his character.
As far as her being vindictive, I don’t know that much about her or him, so if she is then that child should be taken from her too and given to a healthy parental unit. I hate when the justice system thinks the child has to be with a bio parent, even if they’re dangerous. And I agree about this state (Utah) just taking made up stories. I’ve personally seen it happen twice (2 moms lying about the dads) and think it’s disgusting.
I am a mom of 3 beautiful and bright children. I feel where everyone is coming from. I too, was arrested for misdemeanor child abuse, but in a different state. It was came from my step-son. When I got remarried I knew his son had issues and at that time he was only 7. I tried my best to fill in for his mother, who franckly, is nothing more than white cocaine trash. How in the world my husband had ever gotten involved with him is just beyond me. Anyway, earlier this year, after my step-son had been with us for my husbands week of custody…(shared week to week), apparently we got a visit from DSS saying that he had been beaten with a belt and that he is saying that my husband and I were the ones who adminstered the beating. I just about broke down…especially when I don’t even belive in corporal punishment. My step-son is now 12. The courts told me thatthey could substantiate the claims against my husband but because he had bruises and because he said so, I am automatically guilty. My picture of my arrest went viral. It was in every newspaper and on every local news broadcast. My life has been turned upside down because this kid lied to protect his mothers boyfriend, **NAME OMITTED BY STGNEWS EDITOR**. This man had attacked my step-son numerous times before. We did everything to get him away from there but DSS did nothing because everytime theywent to her house, she would state he no longer lived there and they would close the case. **NAME OMITTED BY STGNEWS EDITOR** served time in prison for assult with the intent to inflict permenant injury, if yet another claim came against him he was facing at least 20 years. My step-son’s mother was convicted back in 2000 of stabbing her husband (my husband now). When we went to district court none of this mattered not even that I had no criminal record at all. Now I have the burden of prooving my innocence.
This is an injustice. The courts didn’t even have all of the paper work from DSS at first. And later on after the court hearing it came to be that all his mother wanted was full custody and child support. For five years I took care of this child. I was at every school functions nad / or meeting. I took him to the doctor (all of them) his therapist, his psychologist for his ADHD, Bi-Polar, and ODD disorders, the eye doctor where he received glasses now of course his mother took them away and broke them and put them in the trash, I took him to the dentist. He had never even been to a dentist when we first met. He was almost 8 then. He had not had a physical since before Kindergarden. The school called me when they felt he needed to be held back in second grade. I got in intensive in home therapy as his disorders got worse. His mother had never had him checked even after the school had begged her to take him to see a psychologist when he was 5 or 6 yrs old (kindergarden).
I love this child and I worry about where he is going to end up but because he has deadbeat mother who doesonly cares about herself this child will mostlikely be in jail before he turns 16 just like his older half brother… who quit school at 16 after he had been suspened for threatening his teacher with a knife, or maybe like his little half sister who, his mother gave up to some old man that lives in the next town. I heard she is nothing more than he play toy. She is 5 this year and she has been with this man since she was roughly 2.
Where is my justice????!!! Why is it I did everything right and I am being slapped down but the people who are nothing more than the bottom feeders of this country always come out on top. I am appealing my district case…..and I have used every dime I have saved to pay for my attorneys which now I have 3. One criminal ( of which if I do not come up with $3500.00 I will lose), one domestic (my second husband is jumping on the band wagon trying to take custody of my 8 year old) and one to handle the DSS case part this.
If anyone knows someone who can help, please let me know on this site.
