Redmen get back to winning ways over Tigers

CEDAR – The Cedar Redmen beat the Hurricane Tigers 38-36 last night at Cedar High School.

Kyler Nielson, who scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds led the Redmen, who trailed 33-31 going into the fourth quarter. Trent Snow was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds. The Redmen came from behind to win with great defense in the final quarter holding the Tigers to three points.

The Tigers only had one player in double figures. Coming in to the game the Tigers had four players scoring over 10 points per game. Weston Yardley was the only Tiger to do so scoring 13 points and making three, three-pointers. The twin tower combo of Colton Marshall and Boston Gubler were held to a season combined low 13 points and Taylor Parker who scored 20 points in his last outing against Pine View only had three points.

The Redmen improve to 2-2 in Region play and 9-4 overall. The Redmen have Friday off and a week to prepare for Pine View who they play at 7 p.m. at Cedar High School on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

The Tigers have to bounce back quick because Friday’s game is against undefeated Desert Hills. The Tigers are now 1-2 in Region play and 7-4 overall. Tomorrow’s game against Desert Hills is at Hurricane High School at 7 p.m.
