Thunder Over Utah still seeking volunteers

ST. GEORGE – As the days of Thunder Over Utah are quickly approach, the call for volunteers continues.

“Volunteers are still needed,” said Patrick Carroll, the local representative for Thunder Over Utah.

A plethora of positions are still available, Carroll said, and the more volunteers the better.

“We want to over-populate the volunteers,” Carroll said. “If you have a hundred, we’ll take a hundred. If you have 20, we’ll take 30. If you have three, we’ll take three.”

The more volunteers there are, Carroll added, the easier it would be to rotate them during the actual air show so they could watch the event from decent observation points. Otherwise, some volunteers may end up stuck in the boonies the surround the airport and miss parts of the show.

Particular areas volunteers are needed include cleaning, traffic, VIP handling, tickets, and finance.

“Those are the main ones,” Carroll said.

Though the main days of the air show will be March 17 and 18, Saturday and Sunday, Carroll said volunteers would be needed earlier that week as well. People who sign up for Thursday and Friday may experience a private air show as the pilots train for the official weekend show.

Potential volunteers are asked to donate a minimum of six hours of service. Benefits include free food, free admission to the air show, and a free t-shirt.

Carroll stated the first day of the show, March 17, was nearly full as far as volunteers went; while Sunday was wide open for service opportunities.

For more information, please call Patrick Carroll at 435-229-5620, or email him at [email protected].

Applications must be turned in by Feb. 24.

I have been trying to sign up to volunteer and realize now that it had to be in my Feb. 24. I still would like to be considered for any volunteer job on March 17. Is this a possibility? Please email me with any information.

    Sincerely,
    Ro Wilkinson

Hi, I talked to Patrick today about volunteering. He said to email a request, which I am doing here.
I would appreciate as prompt an answer as possible, as we would like to purchase tickets before
they are gone if you don’t need us.

Thanks for your consideration. We would be glad to help.
