Dixie State College to hold Annual Employment Fair

ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College of Utah will hold its annual Employment Fair on Tuesday, February 21, in the Gardner Center Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This year’s fair is open to all students and community members and will feature more than 50 registered employers seeking to hire four-year graduates and students with associate degrees and certificates.

DSC Career Center and Employment Services Director Kathy Kinney said that this year’s fair is full of employers who are looking to hire DSC graduates for full-time career positions, along with other employers who will offer part-time and seasonal jobs and internships. She also noted that there would be employers in attendance who may not have current openings but will promote their businesses and answer questions about future opportunities.

“Students should view our Employment Fair as a networking event,” Kinney said. “They should come dressed for success with résumés to hand out and gather information from as many employers as they can.”

Representatives from a few local technology companies will attend this year’s fair, including Innovation Simple, Integratechs and Overactdev Technology Partners, all of whom will provide students a great opportunity to ask questions about how to start and grow their own business.

Business graduates will also have the opportunity to connect with financial services representatives from such companies as The Cambridge Financial Center, McPartland Financial Group, Mass Mutual and Northwestern Mutual.

In addition, this year’s event will feature an résumé expert, who will provide on-the-spot résumé review and advice to students on how to better their marketability.

Among the many employers that will attend this year’s DSC Employment Fair are such companies as Intermountain Healthcare; CCSI; Blue Bunny; Wyoming Department of Corrections; Boy Scouts of America; Farmers Insurance; Steton Technologies, Inc.; Allconnect; Kelly Services; Kohls; among many others.

Branches of the United States Military and other government agencies will also be in attendance.

In addition, representatives from Southern Utah University and the University of Phoenix will be on hand with information on graduate programs.

Fair attendees can expect prospective employers handing out various promotional items and materials, and a free pizza lunch to be served throughout the event.
