HURRICANE – Two accidents occurred at Sand Hollow and Quail Creek state parks on Monday, one involving an ATV and the other a rope swing.

Laura Melling, the park director for both Sand Hollow and Quail Creek, said a female (the age was not specified) fell off her 4-wheeler and was run over around 2:35 p.m. The female had serious injuries and was air-lifted via Life Flight to Dixie Regional Medical Center.

The extent of the driver’s injuries is unknown, though Melling said she was awake and alert while being transported.

At Quail Creek, a man between 18-21 years old attempted to use a rope swing to dive into water, but missed and hit the ground instead. Melling said the man was also seriously injured and was transported to the hospital.
