New Shingle Fire at 2,400 acres

KANE COUNTY – A new wildfire was sparked Sunday in near Duck Creek Sunday afternoon that has triggered evacuations and road closures in the area.

The 2,400-acre Shingle Fire began Sunday at 3:38 p.m., six miles south of Duck Creek, and is currently at 0-percent containment.

So far the evacuations are in effect for Swain’s Creek, Stout Canyon, Ponderosa and Elk Ridge subdivisions, as well as the Harris Flat area.

Road closures include state Highway 14 from Mammoth Junction to state Highway 89.

Structures are threatened, but so far there have been no reports of loss.

The fire is human-caused and under investigation.

Multiple agencies are engaged in battling the fire.
