Body of second Turkish woman found at Lake Powell

LAKE POWELL – The body of a second missing Turkish woman at Lake Powell was found Thursday night near the Bullfrog Marina. This follows the initial discovery of another Turkish woman’s body Wednesday afternoon.

The body of 21-year-old Betul Eryildirim was found by the Lake Powell National Park Service dive team at the Bullfrog Marina at approximately 6:30 p.m. Thursday. She was located in about 30 feet of water near the area where the body of 21-year-old Merve Tolek was discovered by a boater the day before.

Kane County Emergency Services reported that both women were working at Lake Powell for the summer and were employees of Aramark.

The girls are said to have been good friends, and their birthdates were just eight days apart.

No foul play is suspected at this time.

Officials of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office said the incident  appeared to be an unfortunate accident that has claimed two young lives, and extended their condolences to the families and friends of the deceased women.
