ST. GEORGE – Deidre Henderson, Republican candidate for Utah’s Senate District 7, is in Tampa, Fla., for the 2012 Republican National Convention. Henderson ran Congressman Jason Chaffetz’s campaign, “out of her laundry room,” she said, all the time raising five kids.
Service is nothing new to Henderson, who told St. George News, that Utahns joined together on Monday, to help assemble 1,000 hurricane relief kits, along with volunteers from Arizona and Hawaii, making the most of time freed up as the convention was delayed due to the threat of Hurricane Isaac.
“It was fun to have delegates from Hawaii and Arizona helping with our service project (Monday) morning,” Henderson said.
Utah Republicans started their convention morning Monday with a breakfast honoring Sen. Orrin Hatch.
Henderson tweeted early this evening that Utah unanimously cast all 40 delegate votes for the Romney / Ryan ticket at the convention today.
