Hone your marketing skills with Professional Development sessions, Cedar City-Brian Head Tourism Bureau

CEDAR CITY – The Cedar City-Brian Head Tourism Bureau and other community partners are sponsoring a series of Professional Development training sessions addressing various aspects of marketing.

The series is aimed to aid small business owners, event coordinators and all members of the community looking to hone their marketing skills. The next session will take place this Wednesday, followed by another on Dec. 12. Each session will be held at the Iron County Visitor Center. The $10 cost includes breakfast.

On Wednesday at 8 a.m., Southern Utah University Professional in Residence Ellen Treanor will help beginners get started in the hands-on “Where to Begin with Social Media” session. If you know you should be marketing your business or event with social media but don’t know where to start, this session is for you. Treanor, who has been an expert speaker on marketing panels with Google, Facebook and Twitter strategists, will help attendees negotiate over 375 social media platforms. Not only will she give you the high-level marketing viewpoint, she will give you specific step-by-step instructions. Bring your laptop and be prepared to open accounts on major platforms relevant to your business.

The next session in the series will be held Dec. 12 at 9 a.m. and is entitled “Getting Noticed by the Media: Tips, Tools and Resources.”

“This series allows professionals to share expertise and highlight resources that can benefit business as well as proficiency,” said Bonnie Char, public relations specialist for the Cedar City-Brian Head Tourism Bureau.

Bureau director Maria Twitchell said, “Marketing trends are constantly changing and we can always add to our skill base. Successful tourism isn’t just a festival here and a fair in the park. We are all interdependent.”

Space is limited. To register for the series or a single session and more information, contact Char at 435-586-5127 or [email protected].
