ST. GEORGE – The Dixie State College of Utah art department will hold its annual Student Christmas Ceramic Exhibit and Sale this Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the DSC North Plaza Art Building.
Now in its 37th year, this annual holiday tradition features the works of several art program students who will use the sale to help pay for their college education. Hundreds of handmade ceramic and pottery pieces, including a variety of artistic and functional stoneware, will be available at reasonable prices. 20 percent of all proceeds support the DSC art department. The sale is open to the public.
DSC art professor Glenn Blakley said that the exhibit provides students a very important opportunity to market their wares; the ability to sell art is an important learning experience as they gain first-hand knowledge of the public’s perception of their creations. “We have a tremendous sale planned for this Christmas season,” Blakley said. “You can find something for every room, everything from bowls to beads and more.”
The ceramic exhibit and sale is the first of two sales held by DSC’s art department each year; the next will be held at the end of spring semester.
