ST. GEORGE – A crowd of several thousand people watched the high-flying Ultimate Moto, Utility Task Vehicle Off Road Race, Tuff Trucks and a new world record long jump by Ryan Piplic at the Second Annual Fall Fuel Fest, Saturday.

The event was put together by H&S Performance with Flo Pro, Off Road Sports, and SGMX and held at the SGMX Motoproving Ground in St. George where phone poles, culverts, jumps and berms littered the SGMX proving round, records were broken and winners collected nearly $75,000 in cash and prizes.
The festivities were capped off with WORCS National Champion Ryan Piplic, from Las Vegas, setting a world record by long-jumping his 2014 Polaris RZR UTV 155 feet 8 inches. Ryan made two attempts and it was on the second pass that he broke the record.
The record will be registered with Polaris, event promoter Off Road Sports’ Sean Reddish said, based on engineered drawings by Off Road Sports, LLC, proving it up.
The previous record was set at the 129-foot mark by RJ Anderson in July, shown in the UTVUnderground viral film XP1K.
“This is the happiest day of my life so far,” Piplic said after the jump was completed. “Ask me the same question next year and the answer might be different when I have kids. But for now, this is my happiest day.

“I broke my ride, but that is OK because I have the world record.”
Rawlin McGhie drove down from Salt Lake City and won the Tuff Truck main event driving his 4500-Class Off Road Vehicle.
The course was long and challenging for UTVs. Several competitors’ UTVs were towed or carried off the racecourse.
Piplic not only set a world record at the Fall Fuel Fest, he won the UTV SXS Pro race.
Shane Skinny Prist from Cedar City won the UTV SXS amateur class.
Ultimate Moto challenges the rider’s strength, stamina and mental reserve. The boulder pile was a focal point for the crowd as it gave virtually every rider trouble. The wheel-spoke array of phone poles was particularly challenging.
Blake Savage, a local from Washington, won the expert/pro class. Kadin Guard of St. George won the intermediate class. Chris McParland of Peoria, Ariz., won the beginner class and Cameron Aston of Cedar City won the ATV intermediate class.
Everything from Ford F150s and Chevy C10s to wild purpose-built Tuff Trucks tackled the grueling course. There was no time to relax at the SGMX Proving Ground; the drivers no more completed getting through one obstacle and the next one was there in seconds. This was the first year that Tuff Trucks competed at the annual Fall Fuel Fest.

On the Dyno, speeds in excess of 150 miles an hour were recorded as black diesel soot filled the air from the super-tuned diesel powered pickup trucks. The torque and horsepower numbers were staggering. There were 65 entrants in 5 classes.
During the intermission between racing and record breaking, the crowd was entertained by freestyle BMX bicycles and motocross motorcycles. Back flips, front flips and high flying tricks came one after the other from the BMX bicycles. The X-Game type of freestyle Moto-X motorcycles brought “oohs and ahs” from the crowded grandstands.
The tradition continues to build on the past events. This was the second Fall Fuel Fest and as community support continues the organizers plan to keep this event on the annual schedule. The stands were filled with both locals and visitors from surrounding states.
