WASHINGTON COUNTY – The Boy Scouts of America need your help in replenishing the local food banks and are seeking food donations during their annual food drive March 22 as they go door to door to collect nonperishable food items. The Scouts will be dropping off plastic bags during the week as a reminder.
This is the largest single food drive of the year and helps the food banks to get through the slow summer months.
Some of the items most needed include: canned meats, peanut butter, beans, boxed or canned meals, rice and pasta, canned vegetables and fruit and cereal. All donations should be in undamaged and unexpired packages. Glass containers are not accepted.
To participate:
- Place your non-perishable items, such as canned food and boxed food items in a plastic or paper grocery bag
- Leave the food-filled bags by your front door by 9 a.m. on March 22
- The Scouts will come to your house and collect your contributions for the food banks
If the Scouts miss your house you can support their effort by dropping off your donation at any of the three locations below:
- Dixie Care and Share, 131 North 300 West, St. George
- Dixie Care and Share, 450 East 800 North, Hurricane
- Utah Food Bank Warehouse, 4416 South River Road, St. George

Nice work Scouts.
If you don’t donate, they might drop a tree or topple a rock on you and take photos of your bones.
