Mary Kroeger

(May 5, 1958 – April 3, 2014)

Mary Kroeger, age 55, passed away Thursday April 3, 2014 surrounded by her family and loved ones.  She was born May 5, 1958 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Mary was raised in Durango, Colorado on a Cattle Ranch and graduated from Durango High School.  She received a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Phoenix.   She worked as a registered nurse for a number of years before she pursued her true love and passion as a home health care nurse.

In 1987 she met the love of her life and soul mate, Deb.  They shared 26 wonderful years together and were the ultimate example of unconditional love, compassion and service.  She served in the army as a nurse during Desert Storm.  On January 17, 1993 Mary was in a snow tubing accident that left her paralyzed from the shoulders down.  In spite of her physical disability, she persevered and continued to love life, pursue her passions and achieve her goals.

American flagMary excelled at everything she did…and she did a lot!  At the top of her list was traveling with Deb, horseback riding, playing soccer, basking in the sun and spending time with her loved ones.  Not only was Mary an outstanding life partner, mother and grandmother, she was a fantastic business woman and mentor to countless people throughout her years.  She touched and changed more lives than she will ever know.

She is survived by her mother Barbara, brother Russell (Donalda), partner Deb Brown, daughter Andrea Barentsen (Chris), son Benjamin Buckley (Katie), and her two beautiful granddaughters Rylee and Emma Barentsen.  She is preceded in death by her father Jack.

A special thank you to all friends, aids, nurses and assistants who have supported Mary throughout the years.
