Dorothy Beatty(January 23, 1942 – April 23, 2014)

Dorothy Gwen Slade Beatty returned to begin her eternal life with our Heavenly Father on April 23, 2014.  Dorothy was born on January 23, 1942 in Durango Colorado to Marvin Medford Slade and Gwendola Cloward Slade. She was raised in Kline Colorado until the age of 10 when she moved to Vernal Utah.

She is survived by her husband of 47 wonderful years, Paul Franklin Beatty, three children, Cory Lee Beatty (Baelie), Robert Cord Beatty, Shauna Ray Beatty Wada (Fred), 14 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren and 4 Brothers, Dale (Donna) Eddie (Carolyn), DeLeon (Sandra), Terry (Debbie).

Dorothy graduated from Dixie State College and Weber State College and worked for over 37 years in the nursing field. Dorothy was an accomplished artist and pianist. Her greatest joy was her family and service to her church. Dorothy and her husband lived and raised their family in New Harmony Utah for 42 years. She loved the outdoors, she was an avid hunter and fisher. She loved her home, sunsets on the Kolob Canyons and her many friends in New Harmony.

Funeral Services

  • Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the New Harmony LDS Chapel, 12 South Main, New Harmony, UT 84757.
  • Viewings will be Monday, April 28, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Heideman Hughes Mortuary, 1037 East 700 South, St George, UT 84790, and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Chapel prior to services.
  • Interment will follow in the New Harmony Cemetery.
