IVINS – The Ivins Police Department arrested two men on Sunday for felony drug possession.
Jacob Donald Reed, 31, of St. George, was arrested and charged with one first-degree felony for drug possession and distribution, two third-degree felonies for drug possession and one class-B misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia.
Daniel Everett Parker, 32, of Ivins, was arrested and charged with one third-degree felony for drug possession and one class-B misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia.
According to the probable cause statement filed in connection with the arrest, Ivins City Police Officer Todd O’Bray made contact with Reed and Parker while on patrol and questioned why they were in the area, due to recent electrical wire theft in a construction area of Main Street and 400 South in Ivins.
“While I was talking to both suspects, I received their information and looked into the vehicle,” O’Bray said in the statement. “In plain sight was a syringe in the middle of the passenger seat on top of a cellphone.”
When questioned, both men said they were talking on the cellphone but didn’t know where the syringe had come from or how it got on top of the phone.
Reed, the driver of the vehicle, consented to a search of the vehicle, at which point a scale and additional syringes were found in the trunk. A NIK test performed on residue from the scale tested positive for methamphetamine.
Both men were placed under arrest.
“In the parking lot of the jail, Mr. Reed advised me that he had cocaine in his wallet,” O’Bray said in the statement.
Both Reed and Parker were booked into Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility. According to booking information, Reed’s bail stands at $20,583 and Parker’s bail stands at $5,583.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Man those … drugs are ruining so many lives. The stupid stuff touches more lives than we know. It’s ruined even some of my relatives families.
