ST. GEORGE – Emergency personnel responding to a one-car accident Sunday evening in front of Swiss Bank Storage, near 540 North on Dixie Drive, and found a wrecked car straddling the sidewalk backwards entangled in the curbside landscaping.
The woman driving the vehicle was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George with back and neck pain.
No other vehicles were involved and no one else was in the car besides the driver.
The woman was traveling southbound on Dixie Drive sometime around 7:30 p.m. and swerved across all lanes, including oncoming lanes, and ended up on the sidewalk after making contact with a rock and a small tree.
St. George Fire and Police departments and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the accident.
“She lost control coming around that corner and overcorrected,” St. George Police Sgt. Wade Johnson said.
The cause of the wreck is still under investigation until an officer can interview the driver.
“First we’re going make sure she’s OK and has what she needs at the hospital, then once she’s cleared and kind of has a little more presence of mind,” Johnson said, “we’ll talk to her and ask her what happened.”
Both rear tires on the vehicle were flat at the scene and the car was towed.
Northbound lanes on Dixie Drive were blocked for a short time.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
