ST. GEORGE – The Washington County Attorney’s race was arguably the most publicized of the Primary Election races in Southern Utah. Tuesday night we learned who would be the next Washington County Attorney due to the fact there is no Democratic or other-party challenger in the fall. With 55.24 percent of the vote, Brock Belnap is the projected winner of the race. His challenger in the Primary, Nathan Caplin, came in with 44.76 percent.
“I am honored and humbled by all the support the people of Washington county have given me,” Belnap said. “I am thankful for the hard work of my volunteers and supporters. I pledge to work hard to uphold the trust the public has given me.
Caplin, who garnered his own share of ardent supporters, evidenced by 4,976 votes in his favor to Belnap’s 6,142, extended the proverbial hand of congratulations to his opponent in comment after the results were confirmed.
“First, I would like to congratulate Brock Belnap on his win tonight,” Caplin said, and continued with appreciation to those who rallied with him in the fight.
“I express deep gratitude to the Caplin volunteers who knocked on doors, put together packets, made phone calls, talked with their neighbors, gave rides to the elderly, and served in a myriad of important ways to share our message of constitutional principles, fighting crime, and traditional values,” he said. “The opportunity to meet hundreds of citizens and learn from them has been one of the greatest experiences of my life.
“The people of Washington county inspire me; their character and love of freedom and fellow men suggest to me that the best days of our county, and our nation are ahead of us.”
Belnap likewise acknowledged his opponent.
“I congratulate Mr. Caplin on an honorable and hard fought race,” Belnap said. “I look forward to seeing the contributions that he will make to the community in the future.”

Indeed! A hard fought win, and well earned.
I”m glad for Brock and our community. I don’t know Caplin but just hearing his campaign adds made me feel like I was getting sold a bill of goods. Way to much political BS for a County Attorney race.
Ok Brock, now go prosecute that woman who was charged with inciting a riot for her role in encouraging others to “fight the Mexicans” at the Skim Park last Sunday.
While you are “reviewing” the charges, it would behoove you to amend the charges to include aiding and abetting a hate crime. While wielding a baseball bat and encouraging other to “fight the Mexicans” would at the very least qualify as a hate crime. Do it for all the people of Washington County who you claim to represent. Or are you still high on the euphoria of your “win”?
For some reason some cases are prosecuted properly, especially sex crimes against minors, another case is an elder man late 70’s early 80’s who was not jailed because he was to old for jail but not old enough to molest a child?? If you google pedophiles in area and there are mannnny you will find that old piece of ….
