VEYO – Strong winds from a summer storm Friday night resulted in Washington County Sheriff’s deputies and fire crews responding to a report of a power line and tree down in the roadway at 13 N. Main in Veyo.
The St. George Communications Center confirmed at 9:10 p.m. that Washington County Sheriff’s deputies and fire crews have shut down a small portion of SR-18 at 13 N. Main in Veyo while emergency crews work with power company officials to remove the tree and power line from the roadway.
Initial calls to dispatch reported multiple power outages in the Veyo area.
“A tree knocked down part of the line, and there are currently about 200 customers without power,” said Paul Murphy Rocky Mountain Power PIO at 9:34 p.m Friday night. “There is a crew on the way and we are hoping to have it resolved soon.”
