Getting medieval at Utah Midsummer Renaissance Faire

CEDAR CITY – Travel back in time at the Utah Midsummer Renaissance Faire, continuing through Saturday in Cedar City’s Main Street Park, 200 N. Main St.

One of the nation’s longest-running renaissance fairs, this free family event features music, games, rides, vendors, entertainment, crafts, children’s activities, food and, of course, damsels and gentleman decked out in costumes of the period. The event pays homage to medieval festivals of old, where vendors and their families would camp outside the walls of a city and sell wares to passersby amid a bustling atmosphere of music, mischief and merriment.

Main Street Park has been transformed into a Renaissance village for the occasion, and visitors to the past are invited to come in medieval dress – or their modern garb – and enjoy the ambience of days gone by.

The faire opened Wednesday and continues Friday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Additional information can be found on the Utah Midsummer Renaissance Faire website.
