Jeep spins off light pole by Sullivan Park

WASHINGTON CITY — A man was detained for a possible DUI Sunday morning after his car collided into a light pole on Washington Fields Road in Washington.

The Washington City Fire and Police departments responded to the one-vehicle crash to find an older Jeep SUV with significant damage, Washington City Police Sgt. Ed Kantor said. The Jeep left the roadway while traveling northbound on Washington Fields Road near the Industrial Drive intersection. Once off the roadway it struck a light pole which stood about half a block north of the Sullivan Virgin River Soccer Park. This collision spun the vehicle around before it came to rest.

The man was evaluated medically at the scene, but was not transported, Kantor said.

“They’re still investigating it as a possible impaired driving or a DUI,” Kantor said. “They’re still rolling up some details on that.”

There were no other occupants in the vehicle and no other vehicles involved in the crash.

The accident minimally affected traffic, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by responders on scene and may not contain the full scope of findings.
