ST. GEORGE — Two vehicles were towed Sunday morning following an accident that occurred at 1000 East and St. George Boulevard and involved a car full of juveniles.

About 11 a.m., a man driving a gray BMW with his wife riding as passenger were waiting in the left-hand turning lane on 1000 East when a white Prius traveling eastbound on St. George Boulevard made a left turn onto 1000 East. The driver of the Prius accelerated as the vehicle curved through the intersection, causing the Prius to lose control, spin out, come around and hit the driver’s side of the BMW, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Danny Ferguson said.

The driver of the BMW, who asked to remain anonymous, said the Prius was traveling at a high rate of speed.

“They made a left turn, overcorrected and then impacted my vehicle,” he said.

UHP, St. George Fire Department and St. George Police responded to the scene. There were three occupants in the Prius: a boy and two girls, each 15 years old, Ferguson said. Upon asking the driver of the vehicle to step out of the car, he said a girl passenger stepped out.

“She stepped out and said three or four times that she was the driver,” Ferguson said. “She was lying, for whatever reason, to protect the other passengers.”

The boy finally admitted he had been driving the Prius at the time of the accident, Ferguson said, and he was issued citations for a moving violation and for driving without a license. The girl who claimed to be the driver was detained for the duration of the investigation. She was charged with providing false information to a police officer and will be referred to juvenile court.

The left-hand turning lane on 1000 East was blocked to traffic while the BMW was being loaded onto a tow truck.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by responders on scene and may not contain the full scope of findings.

It’s a good thing he wasn’t dancing, or there may have been 6 cruisers out there to bust him.

Gee zonkerb, you must have a different copy of this news article. I didn’t see anything at all about which, if any, religion these teens were affiliated with. I’m sure you wouldn’t just be making rash assumptions, based on your own biases, would you?

I was eating lunch at Denny’s while this all happened. I watched two additional passengers exit the vehicle, run across the street to sit down at the bar in the restaurant. These females appeared to be underaged and stressed over the car wreck. Yeah…they knew their friends were in trouble.

At least this minor didn’t fell any trees on the road and kill someone for which he would be absolved from any wrongdoing.

Were these the same kids who were posting on the Corvette incident yesterday ?
They kept saying it was “just a mistake & Everyone makes mistakes” .
They were totally oblivious to the guy in ICU because of this RECKLESS mistake that very Few make . ( plus the driver died ) .

Fortunately none of the other people in this incident ended up in ICU .
