News short: Missing 9-year-old found

ST. GEORGE – The St. George Police Department organized a search for a 9-year-old boy Thursday afternoon after the boy didn’t arrive home from school, but the SGPD confirmed just after 7 p.m. Thursday that the boy has been found.

“Easton is safe and uninjured,” a post on the St. George Police Department’s Facebook page said. “Thanks to the overwhelming support and assistance in locating Easton.”

Easton Thurman, a student at Crimson View Elementary School, went missing at approximately 3:30 p.m. (See ed. note) The Police Department launched a full-scale search for the boy, reportedly using a helicopter in their search, and a bulletin was issued asking for the community’s help in finding him, but the boy was found unharmed near his home, according to information from the St. George Police Department.

The boy was reunited with his parents just before 8 p.m.

Ed. note: The boy’s school was incorrectly identified in a Washington County Citizen Alert sent out about his disappearance; clarification has been made.

      Hi Nic,
The boy’s school was identified as “Crimson Ridge Elementary School” in the Washington County Citizen Alert sent out about his disappearance, but you’re right — there is no such school. Should be Crimson View Elementary. We will make that clarification in the story.

Glad he was found unharmed. I hope his parents took the appropriate “corrective action” to preclude this from happening again! 😉
