PANGUITCH — Panquitch City, Garfield County and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have come together to organize a New Year’s Eve celebration that is a blast from the past.
Complete with dancing, live entertainment, games, prizes and and old-school flair, the “It’s a Nifty Fifties New Year Party” event is expected to provide a family-friendly environment on a night of celebration, Gaylen Moore, manager of the Triple C Arena in Panguitch, said.
The event is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Triple C Arena located just north of Panguitch City on Highway 89, Moore said. Entertainment at the party will include re-enactments from the 1970s classic film “Grease,” games of horseshoes and bingo with a variety of prizes, a human foosball course, and a money-pit for children.
“It should be fun,” Moore said. “We have things for everybody.”
In order to help make the event as authentic as possible, Moore said, those planning to attend are encouraged to dress in ’50s-style attire. Moore also said he even went so far as to refurbish an old jukebox and fill it entirely with music from that era.
Dinner at the event will consist of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad and green salad, Moore said. For dessert, there will be hot fudge sundaes and ice cream.
Tickets to the party can be purchased at the front entrance of the Triple C Arena for $5 per-person or $20 for an entire family.
