Road weather alert cautions drivers of threatening conditions; check before traveling

SOUTHERN UTAH — The Utah Department of Transportation Traffic Operations Center released a “Road Weather Alert” early Saturday morning for numerous roads from Northern Utah to Southern Utah in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Area specific conditions for Central/Southern Utah

Interstate 15

Cove Fort to Parowan will run mostly wet under showers through 2 a.m. Saturday. Periods of light road slush will then become a threat between 2 -9 a.m., especially over the I-15 summits.

Interstate 70

Periods of road slush and snow may impact travel from Cove Fort to Sevier, over Clear Creek Summit, through 10 a.m. Roadways will become mostly wet late morning through Saturday afternoon before precipitation ends.

Salina to Fremont Junction, over Ivie Creek Summit, will continue to experience periods of road slush and road snow through 11 a.m. Roadways may become mostly wet Saturday afternoon before precipitation ends. Patchy ice will be a threat Saturday night.

Periods of light road slush may impact I-70 over the San Rafael Swell, between Fremont Junction and Green River, through 10 a.m. Saturday. Roads will generally run wet late through Saturday afternoon, before precipitation ends.

US-191

Between Church Rock and Blanding, the area will continue to experience periods of road slush through 10 a.m. Saturday. Roads will generally run wet late Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon, except for under heavier snow showers. Patchy ice may be a concern Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

US-89

Periods of road slush will continue to impact travel between Circleville and Glendale through 10 a.m. Saturday morning. Roads will generally run wet late Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon, before precipitation ends.

US-6

From Tucker to Helper, through Soldier Summit, the area will continue to experience periods of light road slush through 8 a.m. Saturday. Patchy ice may linger through 10 a.m. Saturday.

State Route 31

Periods of road snow and ice will continue to impact SR-31 between Fairview and Huntington through 11 a.m. Saturday.

US-491

Periods of slush and light snow will continue to impact travel from Monticello to the Colorado border through 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Roads will generally run wet late Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon, except for under heavier snow showers. Patchy ice may be a concern Saturday evening into Saturday night.

State Route 95

From Fry Canyon to Blanding, the area will continue to experience periods of road slush and road snow through 10 A.M. Saturday. Roads will generally run wet late Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon, except for under heavier snow showers. Patchy ice may be a concern Saturday evening into Saturday night.

State Route 46

Periods of road slush and road snow, heavy at times, will continue to impact travel along SR-46 through La Sal to the Colorado border through 5 p.m. Saturday. Patchy ice may linger Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Other Central/Southern mountain routes

Road snow, heavy in some areas, will continue to impair travel along state Route 143 and state Route 14 — near Brian Head and Cedar Breaks National Monument — through 2 p.m. Saturday. Areas of road snow and ice may linger through Saturday night.

Road snow, heavy in some areas, will continue to impair travel along state Route 153 through 2 p.m. Saturday. Areas of road snow and ice may linger through Saturday night.

State Route 20 will continue to experience periods of road slush and road snow through 11 a.m. Saturday morning. Roadways may become mostly wet Saturday under any lingering showers, with a threat of patchy ice Saturday night into Sunday morning.

State Route 12, between Panguitch and Torrey, will continue to experience periods of road snow and slush through 4 p.m. Saturday. Snow will become heavy in some areas, especially over Bolder Summit. Patchy road snow and ice may linger through Saturday night.

Periods of road snow and slush will continue to impact travel along state Route 24, east of Richfield to Torrey, through 4 p.m. Saturday. Snow will become heavy in some areas, especially over Wayne Summit. Patchy road snow and ice may linger through Saturday night.

Periods of road snow and slush, heavy in some areas, will continue to impact travel along state Route 72, between I-70 and Loa, through 4 p.m. Saturday. Areas of road snow and ice may linger through Saturday night.
