ST. GEORGE — A woman was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George after falling out of a truck when she tried to close the ajar passenger door tightly while the truck was moving on Industrial Road Friday morning.
At 9:30 a.m., a truck occupied by a man and woman was traveling south on Industrial Road near the intersection of Red Hills Parkway when the woman sitting in the passenger seat fell out of the truck after she opened her door to shut it more tightly as it was slightly ajar, St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said.
After the woman fell from the vehicle, she was instantly run over by the truck and sustained injuries that appear to possibly be serious, Despain said. The woman was put back in the truck and taken to the hospital for medical attention.
“The situation is still under investigation,” he said. “It appears to have been an unfortunate accident.”
The driver was traveling at a low speed, Despain said, as they were nearing the intersection. He said no citations have been and most likely will not be issued in this incident.
St. George Police Department responded to the scene. This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
