Community shows support for Jazzy’s Rock ‘n Roll Grill after break-in; STGnews Videocast

ST. GEORGE — An employee at Jazzy’s Rock’n Roll Grill, located at 285 N. Bluff Street, arrived to work Thursday morning to discover that the business had been broken into.

At 6:45 a.m., Manager Katie Maxwell said, she arrived at the business to open it.  When she approached the front door, she discovered that the glass had been smashed in.

I immediately called 911 instead of going inside,” Maxwell said.

Maxwell then called the business owner, Pricilla Taylor, who said she arrived on scene when no one else besides the police had been inside the building. When she entered the store to inspect the damage, she discovered that the cash register drawer was missing. The business only keeps loose change inside the register overnight, she said, so no significant amount of money was taken.

“Luckily that was the only thing that they got,” Taylor said.

Even though the incident has been a setback, Maxwell said, they are looking at it as more of an opportunity. Employees are planning to spend Thursday deep cleaning the entire store as well as getting a new door installed.

“So tomorrow, we’ll have a brand new, fresh, clean Jazzy’s,” Maxwell said.

The community around Jazzy’s has also been supportive and helpful through the whole ordeal, Taylor said. Regular customers have stopped by or called just to check in; and some even brought the workers breakfast when they heard about the incident.

We’ve had a lot of support with our regulars,” Taylor said. “All morning they’ve been coming, helping us clean up …. People that come in, you know are, they’re rather awesome; and it just shows like how much they care.”

While no one was inside the business at the time of the break-in, Maxwell said, there are security cameras installed inside and the footage is being investigated.

Jazzy’s is expected to reopen Friday at their regular opening time, 7 a.m., and business is expected to continue on as normal.

Calls to St. George Police for comment have not been returned as this report is published.

How dare someone vandalize Jazzy’s! I hope they get caught quickly. It’s probably someone stupid. If I broke a window to only get change, I’d be mad at myself. I’d be stocking up on coffee, beer, and flavored syrups. The burglar must not be a coffee or beer drinker.
