GRAND CANYON, Ariz. – At approximately 12:10 pm Sunday, the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center received a 911 call reporting an unconscious man in the vicinity of Grand Canyon Visitor Center.
When rangers and paramedics arrived on scene, CPR was in progress and an automated external defibrillator was in use. All efforts to resuscitate the victim were unsuccessful.
The 82-year-old man, Khushalbai F. Patel of Pleasanton, California, was visiting the park with his family.
An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
