WASHINGTON CITY — Dixie Regional Medical Center has provided an update on the condition of a woman who was pinned under a car in Washington City Wednesday afternoon.
McKoye Mecham, assistant communications director for Dixie Regional Medical Center, said the woman is in good condition as of 4:55 p.m. Wednesday.
The woman was helping change a motor mount on a car at King’s Row Estates when the car slipped off a jack and pinned her. She was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center by ambulance, as was a man who helped rescue her.
Denise Ringlee was present when the incident happened.
“We were changing the motor mount in my car. One of the nuts came off and fell down,” Ringlee said. “We got all the nuts we could back on the motor mount.”
“I was going to crawl in and look for the nut, but Amanda beat me to it,” Ringlee added. “When she crawled under she kicked the jack, and the car rolled on her.”
Washington City Police Sgt. Ed Kantor said the woman who was pinned is 30 years old. Ringlee identified the woman as Amanda Koll.
Nancy Berkheiser, a neighbor, said she heard screams when the incident happened. She ran out and helped lift the car off Koll.
“I ran over, and they’re hollering for a jack,” Berkheiser said. “We just lifted the car off her, and I guess it was one of the guys pulled her from under the car.”
“I don’t know who pulled her out from under the car,” Berkheiser added. “Us two ladies were lifting from the front, and two guys were lifting from the side. So, I guess when the car was up far enough, one of the guys must have pulled her out from under.”
Berkheiser estimated that Koll was under the car for about a minute.
“I heard the screaming and saw her lying there, and I just took off running,” she said. “I ran across the street, and I started lifting.”
One of the men who helped lift the car reportedly injured his back and was transported to the hospital for observation, as well.
Kantor said Koll was conscious and breathing when she was transported by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center. Her condition is still being evaluated as this report is published.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

After reading the story it is apparent to me that there were a lot of nuts involved in this “mishap”
It a dangerous job to work under a car. They should have used a piecost to prevent this from happening.
Nice jack stands
Ouch.
