IRON COUNTY — The Iron County Road Department will be chip sealing the asphalt portion of the Bowery Creek Road at Dixie National Forest, also known as First Left Hand Canyon or Forest Road 049, June 30 through July 1.
“The road to Yankee Meadows Reservoir will be open before the Fourth of July holiday weekend,” Neil Forsyth, Iron County road supervisor, said. “The weekday closure may cause a temporary inconvenience to some Forest users until this work is completed.”
The 4.8 miles of asphalt road to Yankee Meadows Reservoir will be closed for the majority of the day on June 30. The work is in areas of limited site distance on steep, narrow and winding sections of the road.
Heavy equipment will take up the entire width of the road during this work, making it unsafe for travel by the general public until after this phase of the project has been completed.
On July 1, the road will be restricted to one lane travel with a traffic escort. Be prepared with personal needs, and expect delays up to half an hour.
