ST. GEORGE — Friday was the first Friday in August and the third “George, Streetfest on Main,” a growing and well-attended St. George monthly event offering festival-goers a talented band lineup, enthusiastic vendors, food trucks, beer and wine in the Jazz Garden and, this month, the much anticipated George Mustache Contest.
Early afternoon rain made for comfortable temperatures Friday as crowds enjoyed activities that expanded from Tabernacle Street to 100 East this month. Because of the growing number in attendance, the festival perimeter was expanded.
“I just happened to be passing through,” Jason Hellmann of Los Angeles, California, said, “and this is what happens during the summer I guess, everybody gets out and about and enjoys life.”
Bands that played included Brickwalker, based out of Southern Utah, Quiet Oaks of Salt Lake City and headliner Holy Water Buffalo of Heber City.
The Jazz Garden provided refreshments for the adults accompanied by tunes from internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Mami Hope Dalton.
“I just like walking around and talking to all the people that come,” event crew member Mitchell Clarkson said.
“George, Streetfest on Main” continues next month on the first Friday of September.
