ST. GEORGE — Dove Center in Southern Utah has announced its 2016 spring charity gala, “Breaking the Silence Through Storytelling” slated for March 19, 2016.

The gala includes great food and fabulous entertainment, the center’s announcement said, and a poignant message to help raise critical funds needed to provide services for victims of domestic and sexual violence.

Nationally renowned singer, storyteller and domestic violence survivor Susie McEntire will be the headliner for the evening.

“With more than a passing physical resemblance to her sister, Reba McEntire, Susie also shares her big sister’s musical gifting,” Susie McEntire’s manager and husband, Mark Eaton, said. “More importantly, she is also a domestic violence survivor and understands the issues.”

This inspirational event will be held in the SunRiver Ballroom at SunRiver St. George, the announcement said, beginning with a social hour and silent auction followed by a beautifully catered sit-down dinner and Susie McEntire’s presentation.

The evening will conclude with Dove’s “Fund a Need” auction, which the announcement said, has been hugely successful in the past.

The spring gala is Dove Center’s main fundraising event of the year and provides an opportunity for the community to celebrate the success of survivors while ensuring the organization’s ability to continue delivering vital services.

One in 3 women and 1 in 7 men in Utah will experience domestic violence in their lifetime, the center’s announcement said.

“Abuse breeds in silence,” Dove Center Executive Director Lindsey Boyer said, “and we want to empower victims and the community at large to break that silence and speak out against violence and abuse. The support we receive at this event allows us to continue providing the services that help mend broken lives and offer hope for the future. I hope you’ll join us.”

Dove Center provides emergency shelter, victim advocacy, support groups and counseling services, all of which are free of charge. To learn more, visit the Dove Center website.

Tickets are $100 per person, or a table for eight can be purchased for $600. As a special incentive to purchase individual tickets soon, an early bird price of $75 per person is being offered for a limited time.

Tickets can be bought online. Dove Center anticipates this event will be filled to capacity and encourages supporters to purchase their tickets today.

The Dove Center is seeking additional sponsors for this important event. Sponsors will receive high visibility in the community between now and March 2016, its announcement said, and some sponsorship levels offer special incentives.

To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, contact Adele Pincock, outreach and development director, at 435-628-1204 or by email. Individuals, families and businesses are all eligible to become sponsors.
