ST. GEORGE — The Heritage Writers Guild invites the public to a presentation by author Jon Thompson: Declutter Your Writing. Learn to weed clutter out of your writing at this month’s Heritage Writers Guild meeting, Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., in the downstairs conference room at the St. George Library, 88 W. 100 South.

Author Jon Thompson will present “Declutter Your Writing.” This presentation is part of the Guild’s ongoing monthly training held the second Tuesday of each month.

Thompson is the author of the Young Adult novel entitled “Revelation,” the first book published in his Almost Human series. With 15-year-old Michelle Thorn as the central figure, the novel blends government conspiracy, murder, and Bigfoot. The book’s tagline warns; “They are your friends, your classmates, your neighbors, and they are Almost Human.”

Thompson’s second published book, “Deliciously Dark Tales,” is a collection of 16 works of short fiction that hearkens back to the days of dark storytelling before it became morbidly graphic. These are stories in the genre of “The Twilight Zone” and the original “Tales from the Crypt,” tales that are fun to read while you snuggle under a warm blanket, in a dark room, next to a reliable lamp with shivers running down your spine.

During “Declutter Your Writing,” Thompson will discuss successive steps you as a writer can take to clear clutter from your writing without sacrificing your own style.

Clutter-free writing is easier to read, more fun to write, and more salable.

This presentation is free, open to the public, and will benefit anyone interested in improving their writing skills. If you want to tighten your fiction or non-fiction writing, come to the Heritage Writers Guild meeting for this informative session.

The Heritage Writers Guild is a nonprofit chapter of the League of Utah Writers. For more information about this presentation or the Heritage Writers Guild, contact Jon Thompson at telephone 435-216-8837, or email [email protected].
