Grand Canyon seeks volunteers for Earth Day celebration

GRAND CANYON — Grand Canyon National Park will celebrate the 46th anniversary of Earth Day with an open house style celebration from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. April 22 at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center Plaza. This year’s activities will focus on water-related topics, including water conservation, water quality and encouraging people to develop a broader understanding of this precious resource.

Grand Canyon’s Green Team is hosting the event and is looking for 10 volunteers from outside the park to participate. Any individuals, organizations or businesses interested in participating are invited to fill out the information sheet and submit to the contact listed on the form by Friday, March 18. The information sheet may be submitted electronically or via mail; however, all forms must be received by March 18. The Green Team will evaluate the submitted forms, make final selections and notify all applicants by April 8.

Grand Canyon’s Green Team is composed of employees from various National Park Service divisions, park concessioners and park partners collaboratively working to increase the awareness and level of environmental stewardship within the Grand Canyon community.
