VASA Fitness hosts month-long charity event for Autism Council of Utah, including free entrance days

SALT LAKE CITY — In honor of Autism Awareness Month, VASA Fitness is hosting a month-long charity event to raise awareness of autism and collect donations for the Autism Council of Utah. Throughout April, all 20 VASA Fitness locations will have a treadmill dedicated to autism awareness.

For each mile spent walking or running on a designated treadmill, VASA Fitness vows to donate 10 cents to the Autism Council of Utah. At the end of each day, the mileage on the treadmills will be tallied and posted in the gyms.

In addition to the treadmills, VASA Fitness will also donate all enrollment fees during the last week of April to the Autism Council of Utah.

“This charity event is about supporting the friends and family in our community who are affected by autism,” said Keola Keala, vice president of Vasa Fitness. “A large part of VASA’s core values involve giving back and improving health. If an opportunity arises that allows us to help raise awareness of a disorder that touches millions of people’s lives, our team will jump at the chance. We also felt it was important to allow all of our VASA members to get involved in simple ways that can make a bigger impact together.”

In addition to the treadmill and donation of enrollment fees, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the month of April, nonmembers can get into any VASA Fitness location for free just for wearing blue — allowing even more people to walk or run a mile on the treadmill for autism awareness.
