ST. GEORGE – A two-vehicle collision in the southbound lanes of Main Street near 700 South impacted morning traffic Tuesday.
Just before 8 a.m., a woman driving a Kia passenger car was westbound on 775 South and attempted to turn southbound onto Main Street. At the same time, a Nissan SUV was northbound on the inside lane on Main Street.
“The driver of the passenger car just didn’t see the SUV coming somehow and pulled out to make a left hand turn, right into the passenger-front corner of the SUV,” St. George Police Officer Tyrell Bangerter said.
Both vehicles were disabled and blocked a segment of the northbound lanes on Main Street, causing police to divert traffic around the crash.
The driver of the Kia passenger car was cited for failure to yield after a stop sign, Bangerter said.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. The driver of the Kia was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center by private transport for a precautionary exam.
St. George Police and Fire responded to the scene.
