ST. GEORGE — A car parked in an apartment complex caught fire Tuesday evening, briefly threatening an apartment building before it was brought under control by St. George Fire crews.
Just before 9 p.m., St. George Police and St. George Fire departments responded to a report of a vehicle fire at 1735 W. 540 North.
“It was reported that a silver passenger car was on fire,” St. George Police Sgt. Johnny Heppler said. “Officers arrived on scene shortly thereafter. The Fire Department arrived on scene and put the fire out.”
A 2004 Hyundai was on fire in the parking lot. Investigators remained on scene after the Fire Department left, trying to piece together what had happened.
“Anytime there’s a fire that close to a residence…with the wind we’ve been having, and everything,” St. George Police Officer Lona Trombley said, “anything that was nearby could have been threatened.”
Trombley added Wednesday morning that the fire was of suspicious origins.
“It appears to be suspicious,” Trombley said. “It is currently under investigation.”
Residents were out watching the investigation, taking pictures of the aftermath and talking to officers.

if u got enemies who are willing to set ur car on fire, it’s most often not a big mystery who they could be. if it’s random illegal alien youth gangs out lighting up cars that’s an even bigger issue
