ST. GEORGE — A thunderstorm raced through Southern Utah Saturday morning, startling some residents awake and leaving its mark with almost 1/2 inch of rain overnight.

The storm, which moved in an unusual southeast to northwest direction, hit the eastern section of Washington County first. A LaVerkin resident reported heavy rain with lightning and thunder.
It then moved on into the St. George area about 2:40 a.m. with lightning, loud thunderclaps and heavy rain. An Ivins monitoring station recorded 0.46 inch of rain.
The National Weather Service is calling for scattered showers and thundershowers through Monday night. This will also allow for a temporary cooling down, as the high temperature through the weekend is expected to be 90 degrees.
The temperature during the week ahead will slowly climb back up to normal levels, reaching 102 degrees by Friday.

Regarding the forecast, you are wrong. Beginning this afternoon, we are expecting clear skies. No rain tomorrow. Possibly a stray storm on Monday afternoon.
I hate to brag, but I did hear the storm last night and didn’t even get out of bed to watch the show. I lived in Texas for 25 years so I know what a REAL thunderstorm looks like. I’ve been in Utah seven years…Got here as soon as I could.
I better go out and buy an umbrella with a pokey end, maybe I’ll go all inspector gadget and install a taser in it and really surprise the carjacker’s.
It actually started at 1:44 in Washington City. I was outside watching it… They need to learn how to tell time like they need to learn how to forecast the weather… Lol

Just remember keep an umbrella in your car if not for the weather , than a weapon if you get carjacked… Rain is good for the grass..
yep, u should try poking a carjacker with an umbrella. im sure that’ll end well
