ST. GEORGE – A two-car accident Monday afternoon left one vehicle disabled at 1100 East St. George Boulevard Monday afternoon.

The accident was reported at 2:28 p.m., St. George Police Officer Lona Trombley said.

A grey 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by a 22-year-old man and a 2001 black Jeep Cherokee driven by a 20-year-old man were heading eastbound on St. George Boulevard when the accident occurred.

The driver of the Toyota went to change lanes and hit the Cherokee, which was stopped for a red light, Trombley said. The driver of the Toyota was cited for following too closely.

“Keep your eyes up, watch the road. Watch the signals,” Trombley said.

When officers arrived at the scene of the accident the vehicles had already been moved into the median. There was minimal traffic disruption.

The Toyota suffered heavy front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and neither was reported to be injured.

St. George Police Department, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the accident.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
