ST. GEORGE — As a way to thank the community for their constant support of Dixie State University, the institution is giving away a full-tuition waiver.

Effective for the fall 2016 semester, the waiver is available to any Washington County resident who is enrolled or plans to do so for the first time this fall. The prize is valued at $2,051.76, the cost of full-time tuition for a semester.

“Dixie State University wouldn’t be the institution it is today without the support of our community. Connecting with the region’s residents and giving back is a top priority of the university,” Dixie State University President Richard “Biff” Williams said. “DSU is the perfect place for Washington County residents to earn their degrees, and this scholarship will make it even easier for one lucky student to accomplish his or her educational goals.”

To enter the tuition giveaway, go to the “DSU Gives Back” webpage and provide basic contact information. Each week through Aug. 15, one participant will be randomly selected to receive a Trailblazer Gift Pack provided by the Dixie State University Campus Store and will still be eligible to win the full-tuition waiver. On Aug. 15, one finalist will be randomly selected to win the grand prize and announced on Canyon Media radio stations.

Co-sponsored by Canyon Media, the tuition giveaway recognizes the St. George community’s support of Dixie State University, which dates back to 1911 when the institution first opened its doors as St. George Stake Academy.

Registration for the fall 2016 semester is still open, and classes start Aug. 22. With more than 150 academic programs, Dixie State University has the perfect course of study to help students accomplish their educational goals and advance their careers.

Additionally, with Dixie State University’s emphasis on “active learning, active life,” students gain hands-on experience in the classroom and personal attention from their professors that prepare them for successful careers. Visit the university’s website to apply.
