ST. GEORGE — A juvenile driver lost control of his vehicle on the way to work Saturday morning, crashing through the center median and knocking over multiple trees before stopping.
At approximately 7:25 a.m., emergency responders received reports of a single-vehicle accident involving a gray Subaru passenger car at the intersection of Brigham Road and Hidden Valley Drive, St. George Police Sgt. Jordan Minnick said.
The vehicle had crashed through the dividing median, took out two trees and veered into oncoming traffic before coming to rest on the curb of the westbound lane of Brigham Road.
The driver was traveling east on Brigham Road and lost control, Minnick said, adding both speed and inexperience may have been factors.
“He said he was on his way to work,” he said.
The driver received issued two citations, one for speeding and the other for unsafe lane of travel.
The airbags were deployed and the driver was wearing a seat belt. Authorities said he appeared to have no serious injuries and declined medical transport.
St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the accident.
The Subaru was towed from the scene.
