MESQUITE — The Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery has named Gentry Bradley its Artist of the Month for August, an artist who excels in digital photography and has been around the globe capturing the world’s exquisite beauty.

Gentry Bradley was born in Louisville, Kentucky, At the age of 13, he and his family moved to Los Angeles, California. About 10 years ago, he and his wife moved to Mesquite. They were traveling through the Virgin River Gorge from St. George, Utah, to Mesquite, he said, and his wife exclaimed that if Mesquite was even close to being this beautiful, that was where they were going to live.

When Bradley was around 22 years old, he got his first Polaroid camera. “It was like capturing the expression of a feeling,” he said recalling those early photos, something he wanted others to see. This “feeling” he could not himself put into words, but he could with the pictures he took. However, at the time, he did not realize just where his love of photography would take him.

Fast forward to present day: Bradley has been all over the world taking pictures, from Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Kangaroo Island, to nearly everywhere in the United States and its national parks. His favorite park is close to home – Arches National Park in Utah.

While he does not photograph people (no weddings, please, he said) just about everything else is fair game. He especially loves photographing sunsets. Through the years, learning all he could about photography, he is entirely self-taught.

“Photography is like the rush you get when you catch your first fish,” Bradley said. “You take many pictures, but then you get the one that really takes your breath away.”

“Nothing compares to being at the right place at the right time to get that one shot,” he said. “There is nothing more exciting than capturing and showing all the beauty of God’s creations.”

Bradley said he truly feels that it was and is his destiny to do this photography work, taking pictures of our beautiful world and all its inhabitants.

The Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery invites all to come visit in August and enjoy the many exquisite photographs of this marvelous photographer.
