ENTERPRISE — A community’s determination to build a much-needed firehouse comes to fruition Friday when Enterprise City officially opens its brand new fire station with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The station is years in the making and has become a reality thanks to the efforts of Enterprise Fire Chief Brenden Moody and Councilwoman Darcy Holt. The two were instrumental in securing the community development block grant that allowed the small community to fund the project.

The station is named in honor of the late Lynn K. Bryson who died of cancer in February 2015. He was a dedicated firefighter of over 50 years and helped equip the fire department with engines and recruit volunteers.

Moody and his cohort of volunteer firefighters are responsible for an area of over 400 square miles. They are most often dispatched to fight wildland fires when lightning strikes.

The new firehouse includes four pull-through bays and will store the entirety of the department’s equipment.

The grand opening event will run from 5-8 p.m., and the ribbon cutting will be held at 5:30 p.m.
