ST. GEORGE — A 9-year old boy on a motorcycle collided with a truck in Enterprise Monday afternoon and was transported via Intermountain Life Flight to Dixie Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. at 670 E. Main St. in Enterprise, Washington County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Dave Crouse said. An accident reconstruction team was called out to investigate the cause of the accident.

A subsequent press release from the Sheriff’s Department added the information that the child was riding a Suzuki off-road motorcycle model JR50 and was involved in a collision with a 2005 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by a 36-year-old man.

The accident report states the incident is under investigation. Police said alcohol or drugs are not factors in the investigation.

Crouse told St. George News that the child was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

I’m not sure I could be convinced that a 9-year-old should be on even an off road motorcycle.

I don’t see a problem with a 9yr old being on an off road dirt bike. Some parents teach their kids to ride at younger than 9.

My problem is was the 9yr old off road? Or on road? Was the Ford off road? Or on road?

“670 E. Main St. ” No, not off road. This is clearly defective parenting, but then it is Enterprise, Utah’s version of West Virginia.

At 12:30 in the afternoon. What about school?

He wasn’t riding on Main Street, there are fields and a bunch of trails kids ride on that are right off Main Street, not even a block away from his house. So before everyone starts blaming the parents for letting a 9 year old ride on a main road, you may want to get the whole story and not just assume that a news article 40 miles away has all the facts. Accidents happen. It was a half day of school and he was doing what most kids do up there, go out and do something outside in the fresh air. Instead of zoning out in front of the tv or a stupid video game or going out and either causing trouble or going out and getting into drugs or something like that. So make fun of us all you want Chris, I’d take my town over anywhere else any day of the week.

Does that mean the truck was on the trail? Or does it mean the kid was on the road and on his way home.

I don’t see anything wrong with kids on dirt bikes it’s a good hobby. Blessings to the family

He was coming out from around our storage units, which is gravel, and the man in the truck was coming out from behind a building that next to the storage units. Which is why an address is listed in the article.

In any town the police allow children of all ages ride off road vehicles on roads… And I don’t think many of them understand that the tires aren’t meant to be driven on pavment at a fast speed… They do it in our neighborhood everyday when the trails are less than a 1/4 mile away they still ride on the streets fast… They are suppose to have a Ut lic in order to ride an off road veh but I’m sure most don’t cuz the parents have caught on that the police don’t do a damn thing!!! Then when kids get hurt or killed still nothing is enforced!!! I’ve also noticed how all of these off road veh that are used to drive to the stores and everywhere… How is it if you have to take drivers ED, and take a test at DMV for a lic and pay for said lic to drive a car on the streets legally, but if you don’t have a lic and drive an off road veh on the streets illegally its all fine and dandy??? Please can some one actually explain and make sense of this to me??? Thank you

Also: I don’t have a problem with anyone riding where they are suppose to as long as they are smart about what they are doing and having fun!!! The 9 yr shouldve had a lic and if so and in the dirt then it sounds lime its the trucks fault… If he wasn’t on the dirt well then he might be at fault after all we’ll just have to wait and see what the investigtors finding are… Hoping he recovers fast…

With such little information on what happened doling out judgement does not seem useful. I can not imagine what the family is feeling right now and my heart goes out to everyone involved. I wish the best for all.
