ST. GEORGE – A broken-down semitractor-trailer in a busy roundabout snarled traffic for about 45 minutes Monday.

Police received information at 10:55 a.m. that a semi was blocking lanes in the roundabout on the west side of Interstate 15 at Exit 4 in the Bloomington area of St. George, St. George Police Officer Lona Trombley said.

The roundabout intersects with Pioneer Road just off I-15. The semi had broken down in the middle of the roundabout near a Chevron station.

Delays were minor and only one officer was needed at the scene to help with traffic, Trombley said.

“So it didn’t get too bad,” she said. “Fortunately, it was before the lunch rush.”

The semi experienced mechanical problems and a towing service was called. St. George Police responded to the incident.

The incident was cleared by 11:36 a.m., Trombley said.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

These damn Roundabouts are the biggest pain in the a$$ anywhere they are put in, you always hear “they have these in europe”….big friggin deal, they have Kings and Queens and Dictators in europe too…just a stupid excuse to tie up our time Udot, build another way to get the hell out of Bloomington Exit so when this happens we can still get out of this area

Love roundabouts, yes they are all over Europe, and no problems, here it’s the semis, they such they were building exit 1 to accommodate trucks only and a bigger truck stop, that area is too congested.. But a prominent businessman in st fridge owns the truck stop and won,t move it.. The size and length of TVs and semis should nit be in that area.

mmsandie, I’m about to buy my first smartphone and will be learning how to text…I see I’ll have a lot to learn 🙂 As for the roundabouts, I don’t have a big problem with them except for Bloomington, due to the trucks.

Note to Julie: Perhaps an interim update on the progress of UDOT’s I15 upgrade project would be timely. They have made major visible progress, so for local readers a timeline update might be useful.
A lot of us at the south end of the county are looking forward to the congestion relief of an extra lane, and better Wal-Mart off ramp.

I like your suggestion, Caveat E. I bet we can do that. 😀

Given the size of that cab & the trailer , I would guess it required a special tow truck .
Anyone get a photo of that truck ?
