What’s Going There: 5 possible locations of the new Washington County LDS temple

FEATURE — During the semiannual conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in October, church president Russell M. Nelson announced plans to build 12 new temples, including one in Washington County.

If you’ve been patiently – or maybe impatiently – waiting to find out where the new temple will be going in Southern Utah, Linx Commercial Real Estate has some ideas for you in this episode of the new St. George News show “What’s Going There.”

Watch Tom and Travis scout out possible sites for the new temple in “What’s Going There” in the media player above

Tom and Travis try to get some clues from Santa Clara Mayor Rick Rosenberg and Rep. Lowry Snow and visit five possible locations the Washington County LDS temple may one day occupy.

Washington Fields, of course. Nearest to the magic carpet landing strip.

There is a temple across town…. How much money does the church have? Politically active and they do not pay taxes. I do not get it.

The St. George Temple was completed in 1877, so its over 140 years old and has been in nearly continuous operation since then. It’s in need of seismic and technological renovations, among other things. If it weren’t for that fact I doubt we’d be getting another Temple so soon.

When I heard the video, I laughed, they said the church doesn,t believe in betting, yet they own so many places in Vegas.. whe. They said they will put it where so many homes are being built, that doesn,t mean Mormons are moving in, people come from all over the world, and a lot are not Mormons, no one can predict religion when it comes to people moving in..

@LBA, there is a reason the website you’ve linked to is called cracked.com, all fake stories. All BS.

    No brainer. Santa Clara.

Not needed. You can’t turn around in your own neighborhood without banging into a LDS church or ward or whatever they call ’em. I can stand in my back yard and see 3 or 4 of them. They are in literally everywhere. You don’t need to build another “Hey look at me Temple” They should spend their tax free income that was earned off the backs of their followers on something for the good of all, not just themselves.

I’m not LDS, but a temple is not an ego trip. I get your point Mike. but it should not matter. A temple, church, synagogue, or mosque is a place to connect to the sacred. Many churches were built on older pagan religious sites, and those older sites were built on even older locations. The key is to build on sacred ground. There are places on this planet Earth that simply elevate the human spirit and you feel it. Anyway, don’t want to trigger ole Comments, but Santa Clara does have a unique vibe in certain parts reardless of religious belief. The only place like it that I have been is LlasaTibet in terms of certain spiritual vibes. Enough said.

Kilroywashere, I hear ya. I just think those millions could be better spent. (on something everyone could enjoy) As you pointed out, “A temple, church, synagogue, or mosque is a place to connect to the sacred” and I agree. I just believe there are plenty here already. Just me

    • JJODL November 13, 2018 at 2:15 pm

@Mike P. They would probably appreciate it if you would quit banging into their churches. It also seems a bit presumptuous that you would tell an organization, you have nothing to do with, what to spend their money on.
