CEDAR CITY — As the 2018-19 school year came to a close, several additional Region 9 high school senior athletes signed letters of intent to take their skills to the collegiate level.
Since the most recent St. George News / Cedar City News report highlighting football signees appeared in early February, the following local athletes have committed to play for their respective universities and colleges.
Desert Hills High
Kayden Goodman, who played second base for the state 4A champion Desert Hills Thunder, has signed to play baseball for William Penn University in Iowa.

Also from Desert Hills, senior hurdler Chloe Taylor committed to run track for Brigham Young University in Provo. Taylor won both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles races at the recent 4A state track meet, winning the 300 in a personal best time of 43.64 seconds.
In mid-May, two other Thunder track and field athletes signed letters of intent, with javelin thrower Spencer Jolley signing with Southern Virginia University and Abby Monson, who specialized in both the shot put and discus, signing with Dixie State University in her hometown.

Canyon View High
Brady Lowry, a 152-pound wrestler who won two individual state titles for the Canyon View Falcons, signed in mid-March to wrestle for Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming.
In addition, Mason Lyman, a 6-foot-0, 165-pound basketball player, has announced he has accepted a scholarship to play for Hartnell College in Salinas, California. As a guard for the Falcons, Lyman averaged 12 points, 2.7 rebounds and a team-high 2.8 assists per game during his senior season. Lyman will officially sign his letter of intent on Monday at 6 p.m. at the Canyon View High School media center, school officials announced.
Dixie High
Emme Leavitt, a mid-distance runner for Dixie High, signed on May 7 with Dixie State University’s track team. Leavitt recently placed fifth in the 4A girls 400-meter run at the state championships at BYU in Provo on May 18, recording a personal-best time of 59.82 in her final high school race.
