Officers arrived to find the overturned Jeep in the middle of the street on 2025 South Circle, St., according to St. George Police Officer Steve Linton.

Linton said investigators believe the Jeep was heading eastbound when it clipped a toy-hauler parked on the side of the street, then went airborne.

The Jeep’s driver climbed out of the vehicle’s passenger side window before emergency responders arrived.

The driver, whom authorities did not identify, was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center via ambulance for lacerations to his arm.

Something that confounded investigators for awhile, a stirred heavy interest, was a bowling ball discovered next to the curb and several feet the Jeep that appeared to line up with a large hole in the SUV’s windshield.

The bowling ball sparked several different theories among bystanders. Officer Linton cleared up the mystery, saying a witness had seen the bowling ball more than one block away, and that it somehow rolled down the street and came to a stop in front of the damaged Jeep.

The owner of the toy-hauler was also at the scene unloading equipment and supplies before authorities arrived. The Jeep sustained significant damage in the rollover while the damage to the trailer was confined to one side. Both vehicles were later towed from the scene.

This report is based on statements from police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
