Stanley Bernard ‘Stan’ Potter

March 26, 1928 – Nov. 2, 2021

Stanley Bernard “Stan” Potter age 93 of Miami Twp, Ohio, died on Nov. 2, 2021. Korean War Army Veteran and husband of the late Leora Potter and Betty Potter. Stan retired from the US Army in 1972 and went on to a successful civilian career as a Nuclear Engineer after receiving his master’s degree in nuclear physics from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. 

He was an active and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Milford, Ohio. Stan served a two-year mission to Australia with his wife Leora and they traveled throughout the Pacific Islands together.

Stan was born on March 26, 1928 to Marvin and Martha Potter at Ignacio, Colorado. He is survived by Son, Stanley Steven (Susan) Potter, Son, Charles Dean (Dreema) Potter, Six grandchildren, Patrick, Andrew, Rebecca, Kevin, Kyle, and Brandy. Four great-grandchildren, A.J., Logan, Daisha, and one expected in future not born yet.

In addition to being a licensed pilot and an expert marksman, Stan loved playing bridge and was quite good at it. He and wife Leora were multi-time Tournament Bridge Champions at the Huntsman World Senior Games.

Stan was a humble, generous and positive person who brought happiness and goodwill wherever he went. He enjoyed the company of people and saw the good in everyone. He loved his family and encouraged and supported all their endeavors while often sacrificing his own pursuits. Even as his time was coming to an end, Stan was smiling, cracking jokes and reassuring others. We now have the opportunity to honor Stan’s life by trying to be the best we can be.

Memorial service details to be announced at a later date and will be held in Ohio.

Burial will take place in the Santa Clara City Cemetery on Nov. 15, 2021 at 10 a.m

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
